Opportunities to serve in Worship Ministries
Talk to one of the clergy or call the church office for more information or to volunteer!
Music – See the music pages for full details about the many ways you can serve in the Music Ministry.
Ushers – Ushers serve on a rotating basis approximately every 4-6 weeks. They help us in the sanctuary space by helping people find seats, making sure children have a worship bag if they want one, helping parents get their wee ones to the “Lamb’s Room,” guiding the movement of the congregation as needed, answering questions, receiving the prayer cards, and giving out the bulletins.
Greeters – This team of folks greet everyone who comes for worship helping folks find the nursery, restrooms, and answer any questions that someone may have.
Pew Keepers – A fun crew meets during the week to pickup the pews! They replace pencils, envelopes, and rearrange our hymnals and Bibles. They are often the ones to find those lost precious toy or reader glasses for folks.
Communion Stewards – Teams of two serve several times a year to prepare the communion elements and to ensure everything is cleaned and put away after worship.
Acolytes – Students in 4th grade and older serve in worship by lighting candles, receiving offering plates, and more!
Liturgists – Persons who are gifted in public speaking often assist in worship by leading parts of the liturgy.
Communion Servers: Teams help serve communion at BUMC. There are often openings for a team to help serve on the first Sunday. Contact Rev. Debi Tyree to be placed on the list of persons interested in serving communion.
